Coconut Oil??? Are You Kidding Me?
We always hear of the next best thing, and coconut oil isn’t that. Think about the pictures of the people of the Hawaiian Islands we’ve seen. Their complexion as 
smooth as silk, whether they are young children or mature adults. Much of the reason for this is the use of coconut oil as a skin lotion. This practice has been in place for hundreds, if not thousands of years on the islands.
Coconut oil has its advantages and that is primarily due to its high levels of lauric acid and vitamins D & E. Without getting too technical here, the high levels of lauric acid are beneficial in helping energize the skin and body. Coconut oils are the main reason that people in the tropics can spend extended time in the sun and not experience higher instances of cancer. Case in point, the Phillipines have a very tropical climate, yet a very low rate of skin cancer (this is due to their use of coconut oils as a skin lotion).
We’re not kidding when it comes to the benefits of coconut oil, so make it a habit to spread it on.
April Showers Bring May Flowers
This month is Garden Month, and while we may not plant our whole garden in April, it is time to start planning for this year’s tract of goodness.
Take time to discuss with friends and family what the goals should be for this year’s crop. Are vegetables the key, or are you looking for a fresh set of aromatic flowers to enjoy in the warmer months? Either way, April means it’s time to put those plans in motion.
FISH AND VISITORS – Musings of Ben Franklin
With April also being Humor Month, I must relate a true story of when Uncle Pat and Aunt Elsie came to visit. Growing up on the farm my mother and her sister, Elsie, were very close. This continued into their married lives with both hitching up to schoolteachers. Having so much still in common, they got together often.
When I was about 10 or 12 years old, Pat and Elsie came to visit. After a couple of days, I turned to my Uncle Pat and stated, “Ben Franklin once said that Fish and Visitors smell in three days.”
Not sure if that was the reason they cut short their visit, but rest assured I never used that quote again.
