One of the many accommodations provided for those who call American Grand home is access to the comfortable, 25-person capacity American Star Theatre. Equipped with comfortable seating and an 8-foot-by-7-foot screen, residents have the opportunity to enjoy the both contemporary and classical flicks just a few steps away from their suites.

When’s The Show?

Saturdays are the standard evenings typically reserved for the movie-watching, as residents enjoy the latest films available on Netflix or watch a Hollywood classic. Film-goers are welcome to make suggestions, or on occasion, the group will watch a video from a resident’s personal collection.

What’s The Feature Film?

In recent months, American Grand has shown films ranging from, the 1990s comedy “Grumpy Old Men,” the 2013 remake of the “The Sound of Music,” as well as the popular Disney animation movie “Frozen.”

However, movie attendees especially have a soft spot for stars from Hollywood’s Golden Era.

“They like Shirley Temple,” activities director Barbara Joseph said of the group’s affection for the popular actress.  

Are There Snacks?

Of course, going to the movies would not be the same without enjoying refreshments. As part of the movie experience, attendees have the opportunity to enjoy soda and beer, as well as other snacks.

Not Just For Flicks

American Star Theatre has uses beyond just movie watching.

The room is a popular spot to enjoy tailgate parties as Packers and Badgers’ fans enjoy watching games. Meanwhile, residents gather every morning for “Good Morning American Grand,” where attendees participating in discussing the latest news and current events, as well as take part in an exercise class. On Fridays, the theater is used for the popular happy hour activity, where residents are provided with live entertainment and served refreshments.
